Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul: Anticipated Boxing Match Rescheduled for November 15
The highly anticipated boxing match between legendary boxer Mike Tyson and YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul has been rescheduled for Friday, November 15, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The bout, which was initially set for July 20, was postponed due to health concerns after Tyson experienced a flare-up of a stomach ulcer and needed medical attention.
Tyson, 58, a former undisputed heavyweight champion, will face off against the 26-year-old Jake Paul in an eight-round professional bout sanctioned by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations. The fight will feature 14-ounce gloves and two-minute rounds. Despite his age and recent health issues, including sciatica and a stomach ulcer flare-up, Tyson’s camp remains confident about his physical readiness for the fight.
Concerns have been raised by several figures in the boxing community, including former UFC fighter Chael Sonnen and British boxer Denzel Bentley, who question Tyson’s training intensity and physical condition. Sonnen has expressed doubts about Tyson’s commitment to training, suggesting that the lack of public confirmation from trainers or workout partners is alarming. Bentley has highlighted the risks associated with the two-minute round format and Tyson’s lifestyle choices, such as smoking weed, which could impact his performance.
Despite these concerns, Lennox Lewis, who knocked out Tyson in 2002, has issued a strong warning to Jake Paul, cautioning him about the formidable challenge ahead. Lewis believes Tyson still possesses the power and skill to make the fight competitive, despite the significant age gap.
The fight card, which will be streamed on Netflix starting at 8 p.m. ET, includes several other notable bouts. These include a title fight between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano for the undisputed women’s junior welterweight championship, and the return of former middleweight world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. against former UFC fighter Darren Till in a six-round light heavyweight fight.
Betting odds currently favor Jake Paul, with a money line of -330 for Paul and +250 for Tyson. Experts from CBS Sports have provided various predictions, with some backing over 5.5 rounds and others favoring under 6.5 rounds.
