Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has made some serious allegations about a senator allegedly involved in sponsoring recent protests in Abuja.

Wike revealed during a security council meeting that intel suggests this unnamed senator provided food for the protesters. He emphasized that this isn’t just a casual occurrence; it’s a clear case of sponsorship.

According to Wike, security agencies are considering calling the senator in for questioning about his role in these protests. He stated, “This is something we take seriously, and necessary actions will be taken.”

Furthermore, he warned that intelligence reports indicated some individuals might attempt to cause damage to public property during upcoming protests. Wike mentioned that there was an earlier attempt to access Eagle Square, though it was thwarted.

“There are plans to potentially create chaos tomorrow with the risk of harming innocent lives,” he noted. He urged everyone involved in the protests to stick to the MKO Abiola Stadium as per court directives.

Wike reflected on the current atmosphere of protests, highlighting that some areas have already faced violence. He mentioned, “We had seen loss of lives in some states. If that happens here in the FCT, the international community will take notice, and it’s not something we want.”

As protests are expected to continue, Wike reiterated that while citizens have the right to demonstrate, it should be done legally and peacefully, adhering to court orders.
