Mississippi Stuns Arkansas with Last-Second 3-Pointer in SEC Tournament

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Sean Pedulla hit a dramatic 3-pointer with only 1.3 seconds remaining, sealing an 83-80 victory for No. 8 seed Mississippi over No. 9 seed Arkansas on Thursday in the second round of the SEC Tournament.
The game took place at Bridgestone Arena, where both teams engaged in a fierce back-and-forth battle. With just 7.4 seconds left on the clock, Arkansas forward Trevon Brazile, after being fouled going for an offensive rebound, missed two critical free throws. The Rebels capitalized on the missed opportunity, with Davis quickly passing the ball to Pedulla, who then launched a shot from deep, giving Ole Miss the lead.
Arkansas had a chance to tie or win the game, but a shot from midcourt at the final buzzer fell short, bouncing off the backboard and rim. The Razorbacks wrapped up the game shooting 21 of 32 from the free-throw line, while Pedulla’s 3-pointer marked his only successful attempt from beyond the arc in seven tries.
Malik Dia led Ole Miss with 19 points and eight rebounds, followed by Jaylen Murray with 17 points and Matthew Murrell with 12 points. Pedulla finished with 10 points, contributing to the Rebels’ playoff push.
For Arkansas (20-13), Brazile notched 15 points and 11 rebounds before fouling out late in the game. Billy Richmond III also added 15 points and Karter Knox contributed 14 points.
In the first half, Ole Miss built a significant lead, going up by as much as 15 points. However, Arkansas rallied, ending the half on a 7-0 run to trail 42-34.
Arkansas emerged stronger in the second half, scoring 10 points within five minutes to cut the lead to five, eventually reclaiming the lead at 61-53 with 9:35 remaining after a three-pointer by Brazile.
The teams exchanged leads and momentum shifts for the remainder of the game. Following six straight free throws from the Razorbacks, Arkansas took a narrow 78-77 lead with only 1:23 left in the game.
Despite the late-game heroics from Arkansas, Ole Miss responded with an outstanding performance from Pedulla who clinched the game as the clock wound down.
With this win, Ole Miss (22-10) advances to face top-seeded Auburn in the quarterfinals on Friday.
