Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna is a Nigerian politician who serves as the Deputy Governor of Kano State. He was born in Gawuna, in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State, on 25th December 1962. He attended Gawuna Primary School from 1969 to 1975, and then proceeded to Government Technical College, Dawakin Tofa, where he obtained his National Certificate in Education in 1980. He then proceeded to Bayero University, Kano, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Building Technology in 1984.

Gawuna began his career as a civil servant, working in the Kano State Ministry of Works, Housing and Transport from 1984 to 1993. He then moved to the private sector, where he worked as a consultant for various companies. He was also a Director at Gawuna Construction Company Limited from 1993 to 2003.

Gawuna entered politics in 2003, when he was elected to the Kano State House of Assembly. He represented Dawakin Tofa Constituency under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He served in the House of Assembly for two terms, from 2003 to 2011.

In 2011, Gawuna was appointed Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources in Kano State. He served in this position until 2015. In 2015, he was appointed Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs. He served in this position until 2018.

In 2019, Gawuna was elected Deputy Governor of Kano State on the platform of the APC. He was running alongside Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. They were re-elected in 2023.

Gawuna is married with children. He is a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and the Nigerian Institute of Building.
