Nazareth Football Jahan Dotson Ceremony

Nazareth, PA — Jahan Dotson will have his number 5 retired during halftime of the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference football game against Bethlehem Catholic this Friday. This historic event marks the first time a player in Nazareth history has received such an honor.

Coach Tom Falzone wants his team to experience this special occasion and recognize Dotson’s contributions to Nazareth football. “It’s a huge night,” Falzone said. “We need to figure out how to balance making halftime adjustments while also supporting Jahan.”

During his high school career, Dotson set remarkable records with 187 receptions, 2,755 receiving yards, and 40 touchdowns. After graduating in 2018, he attended Penn State, continuing his success with 183 catches, 2,757 yards, and 25 touchdowns. He was picked 16th overall in the 2022 NFL Draft by the Washington Commanders.

Now with the Philadelphia Eagles, Dotson remains active in the Nazareth community. “He comes home whenever he gets a chance,” Falzone shared. “He still makes time to say hello and work out here.”

Falzone describes Dotson as humble and unchanged by his success in professional football. “He’s an athlete with a lot of character. He’s always in it for the team,” he said. “We are proud of him and what he represents.” The coach also compared Dotson to former Nazareth star Saquon Barkley, noting their shared humility and dedication.

Dotson was also a talented basketball player, scoring over 1,000 points under coach Joe Arndt. Falzone concluded, “When Jahan comes back, he’s always the same kid. It’s easy to root for someone like that.”

As the game approaches, Falzone remains focused on integrating the ceremony into their game strategy. “No matter what, it’s going to be a great night for Jahan and for Nazareth,” he stated.
