Nebraska Volleyball Set for Key Matches in Michigan This Weekend

EAST LANSING, Mich. — The No. 1 Nebraska volleyball team travels to Michigan for two important matches this weekend. The Huskers will face Michigan State on Friday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m. CT at the Breslin Center and then play Michigan on Sunday, Oct. 19, at 1 p.m. CT at Crisler Center.
Both games will not be televised but will be available to stream on B1G+. Fans can also catch the action on the Huskers Radio Network with John Baylor and Lauren (Cook) West delivering the commentary on their affiliate stations and through Huskers.com.
Nebraska enters this weekend with an impressive 16-0 record, marking one of the best starts since joining the Big Ten in 2011. They began the current season strong with seven consecutive match sweeps, a feat not accomplished since 2010. The Huskers lead the NCAA with a .327 hitting percentage and rank second in opponent hitting percentage at .109.
Huskers outside hitter Harper Murray shines this season, averaging 3.72 kills per set and maintaining a hitting percentage of .314. With 15 aces, Murray ties for 10th in Nebraska’s rally-scoring history.
Michigan State enters the match with a record of 14-2 and sits in fifth place in the Big Ten standings after recent wins, including a sweep against then-No. 20 Indiana. Junior outside hitter Taylah Holdem leads the Spartans with an average of 4.16 kills per set.
Michigan holds a 12-5 record overall and will also play on Thursday against Northwestern before hosting the Huskers. Nebraska has historically dominated both teams, maintaining a 28-2-2 all-time series record against Michigan State and a 25-3 record against Michigan.
This weekend’s matches are part of the inaugural Big Ten Discover Volleyball Challenge, where both Nebraska and Michigan State currently rank high with identical 2-0 records in the challenge standings.
As the Huskers continue their pursuit for perfection, fans will be eagerly tuning in to see if Nebraska can maintain its winning streak against well-fought competition from Michigan and Michigan State.
