A new docu-series titled ‘God. Family. Football.’ on Fox Nation is shining a spotlight on a high school football team from Shreveport, Louisiana, led by head coach and pastor Denny Duron. The series follows the Evangel Christian Academy football team’s pursuit of their 15th state championship under the guidance of Duron, who balances his roles as both a coach and a spiritual mentor.

Denny Duron, a former hall-of-fame quarterback at Louisiana Tech, founded Evangel Christian Academy in 1980. Since then, the program has amassed 14 state championships and even one national title. Duron’s approach to coaching involves integrating faith into the daily lives of the players, who often come from challenging backgrounds. “I’m grateful to God that I have the chance to teach the word of God to 75 young men,” stated Duron in an interview reported by Fox News.

The docu-series highlights the challenges faced by the players both on and off the field, from family issues to personal growth experiences, as they aim for another state championship. It follows the team through practices, games, and various aspects of high school life. Pastor Duron’s personal journey also forms a significant narrative thread, as he shares his calling from God, which led him from football to ministry.

After a difficult 2020 season impacted by COVID-19, where the team had a winless record, Duron returned from retirement to reinvigorate the program. Evangel Christian Academy has since seen improvements, winning seven games in each of the last two seasons.

The series includes episodes titled “Game of Inches,” “Don’t Spill Your Tea,” and “Champions,” each presenting different aspects of the season and the players’ lives. Lauren Petterson, president of Fox Nation, expressed enthusiasm for the series, stating it is aligned with the platform’s new FOX Faith vertical.

Viewers can watch the docu-series on Fox Nation, with new episodes being released every Friday throughout the 2024 season. Duron’s story of resilience and faith continues to inspire many within and beyond the sports community.
