New Jersey Devils Players 2024

The New Jersey Devils are set to open their 2024-25 NHL season with significant promise, as they face the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday, October 10, following a successful 2-0-0 run in Prague, Czechia as part of the NHL’s Global Series. With a talent-laden roster, the Devils are aiming to build on their recent performances.

Key players for the season include Nico Hischier, Jack Hughes, Timo Meier, Jesper Bratt, and Dawson Mercer. These returning forwards are expected to play vital roles, having each achieved a 20-goal season or higher in the previous year. Hischier, who continues to enhance his reputation, recorded career highs of 31 goals, 49 assists, and 80 points in the 2022-23 season. “Playing with such a high-powered offense gives Hischier plenty of opportunities to tack on assists,” noted a hockey analyst.

Dawson Mercer, despite experiencing a slight downturn last season with 20 goals and 13 assists, remains a crucial component of the Devils’ arsenal. The recent renewal of his contract by Devils’ general manager Tom Fitzgerald indicates a vote of confidence in the 22-year-old, highlighting his potential for further growth. Mercer’s consecutive games streak, now at 246, underscores his durability and consistency.

Jack Hughes is particularly noteworthy, expected to reach new heights this season. With a previous record of 43 goals and 99 points, he could be on track to surpass the 100-point milestone, further establishing himself as a top contender for individual accolades such as the Hart Trophy. His return to form after shoulder surgery augurs well for an impactful season.

The Devils’ roster for the 2024-25 season includes goaltenders Jake Allen and Jacob Markstrom, defensemen like Dougie Hamilton and Simon Nemec, and a strong forward line. Players like Johnathan Kovacevic and Jonas Siegenthaler are set to feature prominently in the defensive line.

Unfortunately, a few players are starting the season with injuries, including Luke Hughes with an off-season shoulder injury and Brett Pesce who is recovering from ankle surgery. Despite these setbacks, the Devils’ depth ensures they remain competitive as they embark on the new season.
