New Trailer for The Naked Gun Promises Laughs in August Release

NEW YORK, NY – June 16, 2025
Paramount Pictures has released a hilarious new trailer for the upcoming film The Naked Gun, set to hit theaters on August 1. The film reboots the classic crime comedies from the 1980s and ’90s, originally starring Leslie Nielsen as the bumbling detective Frank Drebin.
This time, actor Liam Neeson, 73, takes on the role of Frank Drebin Jr., the son of Nielsen’s character. Neeson’s character embarks on a chaotic journey filled with slapstick humor as he tries to follow in his father’s footsteps. The trailer showcases an array of outrageous antics, including Neeson humorously tearing off a man’s arms to use as a weapon.
Joining Neeson is actress Pamela Anderson, 57, who plays Beth, a femme fatale seeking help from Drebin Jr. after her brother is murdered. In the trailer, Beth dramatically tells Frank, “I think someone murdered my brother,” setting off a series of comedic exchanges.
Anderson shared her admiration for Neeson, describing him as “the perfect gentleman” and praised their work dynamic: “It was hard to keep a straight face in scenes together. He brings out the best in you.” Neeson reciprocated the sentiment, saying, “I’m madly in love with her. She’s funny and so easy to work with.”
The film, which is co-written and directed by Akiva Schaffer, boasts a talented cast including Paul Walter Hauser, CCH Pounder, and Liza Koshy. Schaffer has called Neeson “one of the last great actors with old school gravitas,” and expressed excitement about the comedic potential of both the lead actors.
The Naked Gun is poised to deliver classic slapstick comedy moments while reviving a beloved franchise for both old fans and new audiences alike. The anticipation for the film continues to build as its release date approaches.
