In a tumultuous week for the NFL‘s trade market, discussions over player transfers, particularly receivers, have dominated the scene. With several high-profile trades taking place in the lead-up to the November 5 deadline, teams are aggressively maneuvering to strengthen their rosters.

Among the major trades, Davante Adams‘ move from the Las Vegas Raiders to the New York Jets has been a focal point. Similarly, Amari Cooper’s transfer from the Cleveland Browns to the Buffalo Bills has stirred significant conversation. These moves have contributed to a heightened interest in trading negotiations, as teams reassess their options moving forward.

Sources indicate that this surge in trade activity has led to multiple teams reaching out to the Los Angeles Rams concerning the availability of wide receiver Cooper Kupp. Kupp, who has been recuperating from an injury sustained on September 15, is officially questionable for the upcoming game against the Las Vegas Raiders.

The Rams, currently holding a 1-4 record, are not yet looking towards the 2025 season, and trading Kupp would entail complexities given his significance to the team. Notably, Kupp, at 31 years old and the MVP of Super Bowl LVI, was part of Head Coach Sean McVay’s initial draft class and maintains a strong rapport with quarterback Matthew Stafford. Rookie Puka Nacua, who has recorded 18 receptions for 201 yards, has been filling in for Kupp but lacks his experience and fan appeal.

A potential trade for Kupp would involve adjustments, particularly given his contract. He has a $7.5 million roster bonus due in March, part of which is guaranteed, adding potential financial considerations for any interested teams. Kupp’s contract includes additional financial obligations, with approximately $20 million cash owed in each of the next three seasons, though only a portion is guaranteed.

The Rams have previously shown flexibility in negotiating player deals when they consider the terms favorable, signaling that a deal for Kupp could be negotiated under the right circumstances.

Meanwhile, Adams’ recent trade has also put Quentin Johnston, a recently signed wide receiver by the Jets, in the spotlight as a trade candidate. Teams such as the Pittsburgh Steelers and Johnston’s former team, the Los Angeles Chargers, have expressed interest according to sources. The Steelers have been exploring options for a major receiver acquisition following an unsuccessful trade attempt earlier.

Johnston, who missed practice earlier in the week due to personal reasons, returned to full participation on Friday, contributing to speculation about his potential departure from the Jets. In the event of a trade, financial matters have been streamlined, with New York covering much of his salary upfront.

These players are part of a broader market interest that currently pervades the NFL, poised to intensify as the trade deadline draws closer.
