Nintendo Switch 2: A Solid Upgrade to the Original Console

REDMOND, Washington — Nintendo has officially launched the Switch 2 on June 5, 2025, aiming to build on the success of its predecessor. The new console retains the core concept of the original Switch while introducing several improvements in hardware and functionality.

The Switch 2 features a larger 7.9-inch LCD display, an upgrade from the original 6.2-inch screen, providing better clarity and resolution for gameplay. The launch line-up includes the highly anticipated Mario Kart World, which expands the classic racing game into an open world, alongside titles like Cyberpunk 2077, Street Fighter 6, and Yakuza 0. However, the lineup is deemed thin, with many players awaiting upcoming first-party titles slated for later this year.

Despite the mixed feedback, the overall reception of the Switch 2 is positive.
