Penn State Football Seniors And Nebraska Game

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — The Penn State Nittany Lions will celebrate their senior class Saturday night as they host the Nebraska Cornhuskers in a Big Ten match at Beaver Stadium, kicking off at 7 p.m.

After breaking a six-game losing streak with a 28-10 win against Michigan State last week, Penn State aims for back-to-back victories under interim head coach Terry Smith. This matchup serves as Senior Night, where 34 players will be honored starting at 6:30 p.m.

Interim coach Terry Smith expressed excitement about recognizing the contributions of the senior players. “This is a chance for our fans to celebrate these guys, and I’m really excited to make this a night that Penn State stands for,” he said.

Penn State’s senior running back Kaytron Allen had a standout performance against Michigan State, rushing for 181 yards and two touchdowns. With this, he ranks third in Penn State history for career rushing yards with 3,794, trailing only Saquon Barkley and Evan Royster.

Running back Nicholas Singleton, who will also be honored on Saturday, ranks fifth in the history with 3,331 rushing yards. Both players aim to leave a mark in the team’s record books during this final home game.

Nebraska (7-3) last played on November 8, securing a 28-21 win over UCLA. The Huskers are coached by Matt Rhule, a Penn State alumnus. Nebraska holds a 10-8 series lead over Penn State, with the last game being a Nebraska victory in 2020.

Penn State quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer, who is starting for the injured Drew Allar, completed 8 of 13 passes for 127 yards and threw two touchdowns against Michigan State. Meanwhile, Nebraska’s quarterback TJ Lateef had a strong outing last week, throwing for 205 yards and three touchdowns.

Both teams enter Saturday’s game looking to build on their recent performances. Smith emphasized the importance of making a lasting impression for the senior players and the fans. “We want to make this a special night for them,” he said.

The fans are encouraged to arrive early to take part in the festivities and support the Nittany Lions as they strive for victory on this memorable evening.
