North Queensland Cowboys and NRL Acknowledge Indigenous Heritage
The North Queensland Cowboys and the National Rugby League (NRL) have expressed their respect and recognition for the Traditional Custodians of the land. Both organizations have highlighted their commitment to honoring the Elders of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, both past and present, as well as their future leaders. This acknowledgement is made in recognition of the rich cultural heritage and the enduring connection that Indigenous peoples have to the lands on which these organizations meet, gather, and play.
The organizations emphasize the importance of maintaining and respecting the living cultures and traditions of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This is seen as an integral part of their operations and a sign of their dedication to promoting inclusivity and diversity within the realm of sports and beyond.
This approach by the Cowboys and the NRL seeks to not only recognize the deep cultural significance of Indigenous traditions and stories but also to foster an understanding and respect for these communities across wider audiences and stakeholders. In ceremonial terms, such acknowledgments often precede important events and serve as reminders of the cultural landscapes that sports teams and organizations operate within.
