North Texas Datcu Stadium Crowd

DENTON, TX — The University of North Texas (UNT) has officially sold out DATCU Stadium for the first time in the venue’s history as they prepare to host South Florida on Friday night.

The announcement came on Thursday morning after the athletics department confirmed that all 30,100 seats at DATCU Stadium are filled. This milestone is a significant moment for UNT, which has aimed to reach capacity since the stadium opened in 2011.

“This is a tremendous moment for our program, our fans, and the entire Mean Green family,” said Jared Mosley, UNT’s athletic director. “The passion and support we’re seeing across Denton and beyond show what’s possible when our community rallies behind this team.”

UNT has implemented various initiatives to boost attendance, including ticket deals and incentives like free food and T-shirts for students. The excitement mounted as the Mean Green seek their first winning season since 2018.

The team, currently holding a 5-0 record, is looking to continue this success against No. 24 South Florida, who is also on a winning streak. Head coach Eric Morris emphasized the importance of creating an electric atmosphere at DATCU Stadium.

<p“This is a huge test for us,” Morris said. “Our guys have earned the right to play in a big, meaningful game. We have to go capture the moment.”

Kickoff for the highly anticipated matchup is set for 6:30 p.m. CT and will be nationally televised. The atmosphere is expected to be vibrant, as school officials have cancelled classes early on game day to encourage student attendance.
