Notre Dame Women's Basketball Team In Action

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — No. 18 Notre Dame (2-0) is set to host Akron (0-2) in a women’s basketball matchup on Wednesday, Nov. 12, at 7:00 p.m. in Purcell Pavilion. The game, presented by the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation, comes after Notre Dame secured two convincing victories last week against FDU and Chicago State.

The Irish dominated their previous games, with a combined score of 214-110. Hannah Hidalgo led the team, scoring 27 points against FDU and 32 against Chicago State. Other standout performances included Gisela Sanchez, who posted her first career double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds, and Vanessa de Jesus, who scored a career-high 22 points.

In the game against Chicago State, Cassandre Prosper had an impressive performance, contributing 28 points and steals, while KK Bransford achieved her first career double-double with 21 points and 13 rebounds.

Notre Dame boasts strong players like Prosper, who leads the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) in field goal percentage at 64.0 percent and has maintained a 100 percent free throw percentage with more than 10 made free throws.

Adding depth to the roster, Malaya Cowles and Iyana Moore are expected to return for the game after missing the previous two games due to injuries.

Akron comes into the matchup after a loss to Robert Morris, where five players scored career-high points, including Ni’Rah Clark with 22 points. Notably, Akron freshman Kailee Bransford is the sister of Notre Dame’s KK Bransford, making the game a family reunion.

Historically, Notre Dame is 1-0 against Akron with their last match taking place in 2011. Fans can watch the game live on ACCNX, with Jack Rinaldi, Molly O’Malley, and Tyler Reidy covering the action from Purcell Pavilion.
