Ohio High School Football Playoff Semifinals Kick Off This Weekend
COLUMBUS, Ohio — The excitement is building as the 2025 high school football playoff semifinals begin this weekend. The games, pivotal in determining who advances to the state championship, feature some of the top teams from across the region.
On Friday, November 14, several key matchups will take place, including a highly anticipated Division II, Region 5 semifinal game between Hoban and Hudson at Dowed Field. Hoban enters the contest with a record of 9-1, while Hudson stands at 10-2.
Hoban, fresh from a dominant 35-3 victory over Hudson earlier in the playoffs, will look to continue its strong performance. The Knights’ offense is led by quarterback Nick Kinsey and running back Brayton Feister, who have both made significant contributions this season. Kinsey has completed 67 of 127 passes for over 1,045 yards and has thrown 10 touchdowns. Meanwhile, Feister has rushed for 870 yards and 14 touchdowns.
Hudson, however, is no stranger to challenging matchups. The Explorers are led by standout linebacker Nathan Judy, who has made 98 tackles this season, and quarterback Hayden Lipinski, who has thrown for 1,653 yards and 19 touchdowns. The game promises to showcase intense competition as both teams vie for a spot in the region championship.
The winner of the Hoban vs. Hudson matchup will advance to face the winner of the other semifinal between Walsh Jesuit and Austintown Fitch. The regional championship game is set for 7 p.m. on November 21.
