Oilers Star Mcdavid Ties The Knot

It was one of the biggest weddings in Edmonton’s sports scene since Wayne Gretzky got married over 35 years ago. While many might have expected it to happen in Edmonton, the grand celebration actually took place in Muskoka, Ontario.

Connor McDavid, the captain of the Edmonton Oilers, married his fiancée Lauren Kyle in a beautiful ceremony that was featured in Vogue. The couple exchanged vows in the picturesque forests of Ontario during a warm summer day.

The proposal itself was nothing short of dreamy. McDavid popped the question at their cottage, with a romantic setup that included a trail of flowers leading to a decorated deck. They even had their favorite song, “Only Love” by Ben Howard, playing during their first dance.

The wedding festivities were quite the sight. Held on Old Woman Island, guests enjoyed lodge-style accommodations. The rehearsal dinner took place on a converted steamship sailing through Lake Muskoka, making it a memorable start to the celebrations.

Lauren made quite the statement with her wardrobe, wearing five stunning outfits throughout the weekend, with her wedding gown being a custom piece from Vivienne Westwood. McDavid looked sharp in a classic black tuxedo for the ceremony and switched to a stylish white jacket for the reception.

The ceremony itself occurred on a floating dock right on the water, giving it a unique and idyllic backdrop. Among the guests were several of McDavid’s teammates, including Evander Kane and Leon Draisaitl, who added a touch of sports camaraderie to the event.
