Olympic Champion Neeraj Chopra Ties the Knot in Private Ceremony
NEW DELHI, India — Olympic javelin thrower and double medallist Neeraj Chopra announced his marriage to Himani Mor in a private ceremony held in India. The 27-year-old athlete shared the news on Instagram on Sunday, posting heartfelt photos from the intimate event.
“Starting new chapter of life with my family. Grateful for every blessing that brought us to this moment together. Bound by love, happily ever after,” Chopra wrote in his post. The ceremony was attended by close friends and family, with one viral image capturing Chopra’s mother blessing the couple during a traditional ritual.
Himani Mor, a native of Sonipat, is currently pursuing her studies in the United States. Chopra’s uncle, Bhim, confirmed the marriage to PTI, stating, “Yes, the marriage took place in India two days back. I can’t tell the place where it happened.” He added that the couple has since left for their honeymoon, though the destination remains undisclosed.
The wedding follows Chopra’s recent success at the Paris Olympics, where he secured a silver medal, adding to his gold medal from the Tokyo Games in 2021. Chopra made history as the first Indian to win an individual gold in a track and field event at the Olympics.
On the professional front, Chopra is set to bring a Continental Tour Javelin-Only competition to India, endorsed by World Athletics and the Athletics Federation of India. The event, scheduled for May, will feature top javelin throwers from around the world. “It has been a longstanding dream of mine to organise and bring a world-class javelin competition to India,” Chopra said in a statement released by JSW Sports Media. He expressed hope that the event would become an annual fixture in the athletics calendar.
Parth Jindal, founder of JSW Sports, praised the Athletics Federation of India for their support, stating, “The AFI has been doing some incredible work to raise the profile of track and field sports in the country.”
Chopra’s marriage and professional endeavors continue to captivate fans, solidifying his status as one of India’s most celebrated athletes.
