Oregon State and Portland Enter NCAA Men’s Soccer Tournament
Corvallis, Oregon – The NCAA men’s soccer tournament features strong representation from the West Coast Conference, including Oregon State University and the University of Portland.
The Pilots, with a record of 13 wins, 1 loss, and 3 draws, have secured the No. 8 seed in the 48-team bracket and will receive a first-round bye. They are scheduled to face the winner of the Denver versus UC Irvine match on Sunday in Portland.
Oregon State, holding a record of 10-4-2, has not been seeded but will host the University of Washington (10-6-2) on Thursday, November 20, at Paul Lorenz Field in Corvallis. This matchup serves as a repeat of an earlier encounter in which the Beavers won 2-1 against the Huskies earlier this season.
“We’re excited to have the chance to play Washington again,” said Oregon State coach Terry Boss. “Our team is ready for the challenge ahead.”
The winner of the Oregon State versus Washington match will advance to face the fifth-seeded Southern Methodist University (SMU), which has a record of 11-4-4 after a successful run in the American Athletic Conference tournament.
In addition, the four-time defending WCC champions, San Diego, have been given the No. 9 seed and will also enjoy a first-round bye. Should they progress, they could face Portland in the third round, heightening the rivalry.
Kickoff times and television coverage for the opening matches are still to be announced, generating anticipation among local fans and alumni.
