Orlando Pride Set for Crucial Match Against Portland Thorns

Orlando, Fla. — The Orlando Pride will face the Portland Thorns in a vital NWSL regular season match on Friday, October 10, at 8 p.m. ET at Inter&Co Stadium. Both teams are keen to secure points as the playoff race heats up.
Head Coach Seb Hines remarked, “It’s going to be an exciting game. Both teams ultimately need to win to put themselves in good positions to move up the table.” This match marks a significant moment for the Pride, who are eager to showcase their skills on home soil.
In their last outing, the Pride played to a 1-1 draw against the Houston Dash on October 3, with a late equalizer from Simone Charley. Charley’s goal marked her first in a Pride jersey after recovering from injuries that sidelined her for the entire 2024 season.
Although the Pride won their last two home games against the Thorns, they lost the last matchup between the two teams 0-1 earlier this season. Currently, Portland sits fourth in the standings, holding the last playoff spot, while Orlando trails in sixth, separated by just one point.
Haley McCutcheon, who assisted Charley’s goal, has also made a significant impact this season with three goals and three assists, outperforming her previous seasons combined. The Pride have scored nine goals in the final 15 minutes of matches this year, the most in the NWSL.
Looking ahead, the Pride will also host C.F. Pachuca Femenil in a Concacaf W Champions Cup match on October 15. This upcoming match against the Thorns is crucial for Orlando’s playoff hopes, with both teams eager to make a push in the final stretch of the regular season.
