Louisiana Power Outage Entergy

NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana — More than 100,000 Entergy customers lost power Sunday afternoon due to a large-scale outage that began around 4:30 p.m. The majority of outages were reported on the East Bank of New Orleans and in parts of Jefferson Parish.

Entergy issued a statement indicating that the blackout was caused by a load-shedding order and a controlled power cut from the regional power grid operator, the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO). “Entergy New Orleans is currently subject to a load-shed order from MISO; approximately 52,000 customers are impacted,” the company stated.

Crews are working to restore power as quickly and safely as possible, but an estimated time for restoration remains unclear pending further updates from MISO. Entergy emphasized that it is committed to keeping customers informed as the situation develops.

This power outage comes at a time when many Louisiana residents are preparing for the Memorial Day holiday and traveling for leisure. As of this report, no injuries or accidents have been linked to the outage.
