Pacers Face Warriors with Multiple Injuries on Sunday Night
INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana – The Indiana Pacers, struggling with a 1-8 record, will face the Golden State Warriors (5-5) on Sunday at 8:30 p.m. ET. The game comes amidst significant injury challenges for the Pacers as they announce the absence of key players.
Pacers guard Aaron Nesmith will miss the game due to a right forearm contusion, sustained during a hard fall against the Denver Nuggets. Previously, he had been one of the team’s standout players, scoring 25 points in that match.
Star forward Pascal Siakam will not participate as well. After playing heavily in recent games, including last night’s performance where he scored 14 points, Siakam is resting on the second night of back-to-back games.
Andrew Nembhard returns from a left shoulder strain, contributing 22 points and 6 assists in a recent game, providing a glimmer of hope for the Pacers. However, the team will also be without Quenton Jackson, Johnny Furphy, Bennedict Mathurin, Kam Jones, T.J. McConnell, and Obi Toppin.
Coach Rick Carlisle provided updates on several injured players. T.J. McConnell is getting closer to returning after sustaining a hamstring injury in preseason. Kam Jones is also recovering from a back injury but lacks a clear timetable for his return.
With multiple injuries plaguing the roster, the Pacers added depth by waiving Mac McClung and signing veteran point guard Monte Morris, who recently made his debut with the team.
In their previous matchup on Nov. 1, the Pacers stunned the Warriors with a 114-109 victory, their only win this season. With several key players unavailable, they will face an uphill battle against a Warriors team looking to rebound after losing four of their last five games.
As the first quarter of the season progresses, the Pacers are in a difficult position, with coach Carlisle acknowledging the pressing need for a turnaround.
