Al Pacino Discusses Relationships and New Memoir ‘Sonny Boy’
Hollywood legend Al Pacino, 84, recently discussed his personal life and reflections on marriage while promoting his upcoming memoir, ‘Sonny Boy’. The Oscar-winning actor spoke candidly in an interview with PEOPLE on October 3, where he revealed that he is not currently in a romantic relationship with anyone, stating, “No. I have friendship.”
Pacino has been linked to several high-profile relationships, including romantic ties with actresses and producers such as Kathleen Quinlan and, more recently, Noor Alfallah. Despite welcoming a son, Roman, with Alfallah in June 2023, a representative confirmed that Pacino and Alfallah maintain a strong friendship and co-parenting relationship. “Al and Noor are very good friends, have been for years, and are co-parents to their son Roman,” the representative told PEOPLE.
In ‘Sonny Boy’, Pacino explores various facets of his life, including his views on marriage. He describes marriage as “an entrance to the pain train,” expressing that he never felt it suited him. “Everything’s a ticket to the pain train. A ticket or nothing. Are you going to go or not? No, I’ll stay here. I’ll stay here at the station, I’m not getting on,” he elaborated during the interview.
Pacino’s thoughtful comments reflect his belief in the importance of personal connection over marital obligation. “I loved living together, and then… It depends on who you are getting along with. If you live together with someone, there has got to be… You have to have this communion. If you don’t, it’s almost an invasion,” he explained.
Despite being unmarried, Pacino seemingly treasures the friendships he has built over the years, asserting, “I have friends all over the place. I must say I’m very lucky with that.” Pacino’s memoir is set to be released on October 15 and promises to provide further insight into his life and career.
Outside of his memoir, Pacino’s personal life maintains interest among fans. Noor Alfallah, who was reportedly seen dating talk show host Bill Maher, continues to be a significant figure in Pacino’s life primarily due to their co-parenting arrangement. Reports of their continued friendship and their mutual commitment to Roman were highlighted in recent media coverage.
Alfallah, a film producer known for her involvement in the controversial Donald Trump biopic ‘The Apprentice‘, has previously highlighted the impact of motherhood in an interview with Vogue Arabia. “Becoming a mom – to be honest – it’s greater than I could ever imagine,” she said, emphasizing the blessings brought forth by her son Roman.
