Packers Await Return of Injured Stars Reed and Cox
GREEN BAY, Wis. — The Green Bay Packers are looking forward to the potential return of key players as they continue navigating a demanding NFL season. Wide receiver Jayden Reed, who underwent surgeries on his clavicle and foot in mid-September, is anticipated to make his return by Week 14. Currently, the Packers hold a solid 5-2-1 record, placing them at the top of the competitive NFC North division.
Reports indicate that Reed’s foot injury has fully healed, but he is still recovering from clavicle surgery. He is undergoing weekly MRIs to monitor his progress. Reed significantly contributed to the Packers’ success in Week 1, recording three catches for 45 yards and a touchdown in a 27-13 win against the Detroit Lions. The teams are scheduled to meet again on Thanksgiving, where Reed’s return would provide a much-needed boost to the team’s offense.
If Reed is not ready to play against Detroit, he is expected to be available for their matchup against the Chicago Bears in Week 14. In addition to Reed, defensive end Brenton Cox is also on the mend from a groin injury he sustained in Week 1. The Packers placed Cox on IR but expect him to return once his practice window opens, adding depth to the team’s defense.
On the other hand, running back MarShawn Lloyd faces a tougher road. The third-round pick from USC has spent the entire season on IR due to hamstring and groin injuries, following a rocky start to his NFL career. The Packers are hopeful about his future but are being cautious about activating him until he is fully healthy.
In special teams, kicker Brandon McManus is struggling this year, having converted only 11 of 16 field goals. This performance sharply contrasts with last season, where he missed just one attempt. Despite his difficulties, Coach Matt LaFleur expressed confidence in McManus, stating that he will keep the kicker in the lineup for an important game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
As the season continues, the returns of Reed and Cox could significantly enhance the Packers’ prospects in the NFC North.
