Green Bay Packers Jaire Alexander Injury

Green Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander will be inactive for the team’s Week 9 matchup against the Detroit Lions due to a knee injury. Alexander, who was listed as questionable on the injury report, did not practice all week after suffering the injury on the final defensive snap of the Packers’ victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars last week.

Alexander’s absence is significant, especially given his recent performance. Despite missing two games earlier in the season, he had allowed only 3-of-8 passing for 31 yards in the last three games. His presence will be missed against Lions quarterback Jared Goff, who leads the NFL in completion percentage and is second in passer rating.

In Alexander’s absence, the Packers will rely on Eric Stokes and Carrington Valentine as the perimeter corners and Keisean Nixon in the slot. Additionally, safety Evan Williams, who was ruled out with a hamstring injury, will be replaced by Javon Bullard, who has been working at safety instead of his usual nickel position.

The Packers’ offensive line will also face adjustments as center Josh Myers is inactive due to a wrist injury. Elgton Jenkins is expected to move from left guard to center, with Jordan Morgan and Sean Rhyan playing guard positions. Morgan and Rhyan have been rotating at right guard.

The game, set to kick off at 3:25 p.m. CST at Lambeau Field, is crucial for both teams as the winner will take control of the NFC North entering Week 10.
