Papillion-La Vista South Wins Fourth Title, Sweeps Lincoln North Star
LINCOLN, Neb. (WOWT) – The Papillion-La Vista South volleyball team secured the Class A state championship on Saturday, defeating top-ranked Lincoln North Star in a decisive 3-0 match. This victory marks the Titans’ fourth state title in the last five years and their eighth overall.
From the beginning of the match, the Titans displayed their dominance. An early 9-0 run featured a pair of aces from Dani Vallinch and two kills each from Kambria Bails and Finley Moone. Bails led the team, contributing four kills in the first set as Papio South cruised to a 25-11 set win.
Lincoln North Star initially fought back in the second set, taking leads of 11-8 and 17-16. However, the Titans responded vigorously. A surge of kills from Maddox Graves and Makenna Sanders, alongside an ace from Kami Dyrstad, helped Papio South regain control. They secured the second set 25-22, putting them ahead 2-0.
In the third set, the Titans maintained an early advantage with a 9-5 lead before Lincoln North Star attempted a comeback. The Titans squashed those hopes with a 9-1 run, extending their lead to 23-12. Maddie Larson delivered the final kill, sealing the match and the title.
This championship victory further establishes Papillion-La Vista South as a powerhouse in Nebraska volleyball.
