St. Patrick’s Day Festivities in Ottawa Amid COVID-19 Restrictions
The annual St. Patrick's Day parade in Ottawa has been cancelled once again due to the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, marking the fourth consecutive year of its suspension.
Irish culture enthusiasts and celebrants in Ottawa are still finding ways to mark the occasion with various events and activities across the city.
The Rainbow Bistro is hosting live Irish and Maritime Pub music performance by the Hunks and Punks Irish Band from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Tickets for the event are priced at $10 plus HST.
At The Waverly on Elgin Street, a club night featuring DJ sets, green beer, and whiskey specials awaits the 19-and-older crowd starting at 10 p.m.
St. Patrick’s Day celebrations at Brigid’s Well under Saint Brigid’s Centre for the Arts promise bagpipers, Irish dancers, and a full day of festivities from 10 a.m. onwards.
Beyond the Pale Brewing will host a St. Patrick’s Day Sea Shanty Singalong with the Bytown Sea Shanty Collective starting at 8 p.m. on March 17.
Various Royal Oak pubs in Ottawa are also set to hold St. Patrick’s Day events, alongside staple venues like Heart and Crown, Aulde Dubliner & Pour House, O’Connell’s Irish Pub, and Patty’s Pub.
The Ottawa Police Service and Ottawa Bylaw officers are ramping up patrols throughout the city during the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, urging residents to drink responsibly, plan their safe rides, and respect noise by-laws.
