PGA Tour Moves 2025 Genesis Invitational to Torrey Pines Amid LA Wildfires
SAN DIEGO, Calif. — The PGA Tour announced Tuesday that the 2025 Genesis Invitational, traditionally held at The Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles, will relocate to Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego due to ongoing wildfire recovery efforts in Greater Los Angeles. The tournament, hosted by Tiger Woods, is scheduled for Feb. 10-16, 2025.
The decision, made in collaboration with Genesis, TGR Live, and The Riviera Country Club, aims to support wildfire recovery efforts while maintaining the tournament’s prestige. The Genesis Invitational is expected to return to The Riviera Country Club in 2026.
PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan emphasized the role of sports in unifying communities during challenging times. “Highlighting the resilience of Los Angeles and the need for continued support for the ongoing recovery efforts is what our collective teams are working towards,” Monahan said in a statement. He thanked Tiger Woods, TGR Live, Genesis, and San Diego officials for their collaboration.
Torrey Pines, a renowned golf course that has hosted the PGA Tour’s Farmers Insurance Open since 1968 and two U.S. Opens (2008 and 2021), will now add The Genesis Invitational to its storied history. Tournament host Tiger Woods expressed gratitude for the temporary relocation, stating, “We look forward to playing on another championship-caliber golf course this year and using the tournament to support those affected by the fires in the Los Angeles area.”
Genesis President and CEO José Muñoz highlighted the company’s commitment to Southern California, where its North American headquarters and design studios are located. “It has been heartbreaking to witness the devastation caused by wildfires across Los Angeles,” Muñoz said. “We look forward to using the broad platform of the 2025 Genesis Invitational at Torrey Pines to drive meaningful support for relief and recovery.”
San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria welcomed the opportunity to assist Los Angeles during its recovery. “It was an honor for the City of San Diego to raise our collective hand when given the opportunity to help our neighbors in Los Angeles,” Gloria said. “We look forward to welcoming The Genesis Invitational in February and offer our full support to the PGA Tour.”
The 2025 Genesis Invitational will include Los Angeles-related relief initiatives, with further details to be announced. The tournament’s relocation underscores the PGA Tour’s commitment to community support and adaptability in the face of natural disasters.
