Tim David Ipl 2025 Injury Fielding

Lucknow, India — Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) faced a setback shortly before the IPL 2025 playoffs when all-rounder Tim David injured his leg during a match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Friday night. The injury occurred in the final over of SRH’s innings when David tried to stop a boundary while fielding.

David appeared to pull his hamstring and signaled for assistance before leaving the field in distress. Although he returned to bat in the 18th over, he managed only one run off five balls, contributing to RCB being bowled out for 189 in pursuit of 232 runs.

This defeat marked RCB’s fourth of the season, placing them in third position in the points table with 17 points. Captain Rajat Patidar, who is recovering from a hand injury, was sidelined for most of the match, and wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma took over the leadership.

RCB’s issues extend beyond David, as the team is grappling with multiple injuries. Devdutt Padikkal was ruled out earlier in the season due to a hamstring injury, and Phil Salt had missed games due to illness. Mayank Agarwal has stepped in as a replacement for Padikkal.

Tim David’s condition remains uncertain, and stand-in skipper Jitesh Sharma did not provide updates on his status post-match, leaving fans anxious. The team’s depth is being tested, especially with Jacob Bethell set to join the England ODI squad, reducing RCB’s overseas options further. New Zealand’s Tim Seifert has been called in as a backup.

The injury comes at a crucial time, as RCB aims for its first IPL title. All eyes will be on David’s recovery as they prepare for their next match against Lucknow Super Giants. Coach and fans alike hope that the injury is not serious and that Josh Hazlewood‘s anticipated return will bolster the team.
