Real Madrid’s Dean Huijsen Misses World Cup Qualifier Due to Groin Injury
Tbilisi, Georgia – Real Madrid defender Dean Huijsen will miss Spain‘s World Cup qualifier against Georgia due to a groin issue. The 20-year-old centre-back experienced discomfort during a training session on Friday, leading coach Luis de la Fuente to omit him from the matchday squad as a precaution.
Huijsen, who has played twice for Spain in the current World Cup qualifying campaign, was expected to feature in Saturday’s match. However, after consultations with medical staff, a scan will be conducted to assess the severity of his injury. This latest setback follows his withdrawal from the previous international window due to injury, causing him to miss important matches for both Spain and Real Madrid.
In his absence, Aymeric Laporte and Robin Le Normand are expected to partner in defense for Spain. The team currently leads their qualifying group and aims to secure a spot in the upcoming World Cup with a victory against Georgia.
Real Madrid has also faced injury concerns with two other key players. Kylian Mbappe suffered inflammation in his right ankle, while Eduardo Camavinga is dealing with a muscle strain in his left hamstring. Both are anticipated to return for the La Liga match against Elche on November 23.
The club will closely monitor Huijsen’s recovery process as they prepare for upcoming fixtures. The results of the scan will determine if he can stay with the national team or return to Madrid to continue rehabilitation.
