Red Sox Brewers Baseball Matchup

Milwaukee, WI

The Boston Red Sox face the Milwaukee Brewers Tuesday night at 7:40 p.m. after entering the matchup on a three-game losing streak, including a loss to the Brewers in the series opener on Monday.

In Monday’s game, starting pitcher Garrett Crochet put in a strong performance, striking out 11 batters and allowing just five hits over 6â…” innings. However, the Red Sox’s offense faltered, resulting in their current position two games below .500 and fourth in the American League East.

As they prepare for tonight’s game, manager Alex Cora has not announced a starter but suggested that Richard Fitts could make his return from rehab after a successful outing last Thursday with Double-A Portland. Fitts pitched three scoreless innings against Reading, striking out two.

As of 4:30 p.m., the Red Sox confirmed they have reinstated Fitts from the injured list, along with lefthander Zach Penrod, who was optioned to Worcester.

The Brewers will counter with Aaron Civale, who is making his second start since returning from a hamstring injury. In his first start back, he allowed two runs on four hits in four innings during an 8-5 win against Pittsburgh.

The anticipated lineup for the Red Sox includes Jarren Duran (LF), Rafael Devers (DH), Carlos Narvaez (C), and others, while Fitts will pitch with a 0-2 record and 3.18 ERA.

For the Brewers, the lineup features Brice Turang (2B) and Cristian Yelich (DH) among others, with Civale’s 0-1 record and 9.00 ERA presenting an opportunity for the Red Sox to break their losing streak.

Stats indicate the Red Sox have struggled in one-run games, losing 14 of 20 contests. Meanwhile, Carlos Narvaez is experiencing an impressive eight-game hitting streak with a .414 average.

The Red Sox left 10 runners on base in Monday’s opener, and their performance has raised concerns with just four runs scored over the last three games. Tonight, they aim to reverse the trend and secure a needed victory.
