Reece Walsh's Controversial Tackle In Las Vegas Sparks Debate

Broncos fullback Reece Walsh found himself at the center of controversy during the Las Vegas clash against the Roosters, as his tackle on veteran Daniel Tupou sparked heated debate among fans and experts alike.

With only minutes remaining in the first half, Tupou was on a clear path to score a try when Walsh attempted to halt his progress with a shoulder charge that sent the Roosters flyer over the sideline. Initially deemed legal by on-field referee Adam Gee, the decision was later overturned after Roosters captain James Tedesco challenged the call and bunker referee Grant Atkins ruled it as a shoulder charge.

Former players Michael Ennis and Andrew Voss raised concerns over whether Walsh should have been sin-binned for the tackle, potentially impacting the course of the game in Las Vegas. Ennis highlighted the physicality of the clash, while Voss questioned the severity of the incident.

“They are going to challenge the shoulder charge here… we are talking 110kg man here going for the corner, watch the courage of Walsh,” Ennis remarked during the live coverage of the game.

The contentious nature of the tackle had fans and spectators alike debating the legality of Walsh’s actions, with some labeling it a “blatant shoulder charge.” The incident added an extra layer of intensity to the already fiercely contested match between the Broncos and the Roosters.
