Renowned author Neil Gaiman has vehemently denied sexual assault accusations brought forth by two women in recent reports, as revealed by Tortoise Media and Rolling Stone. The allegations surfaced during a podcast released by Tortoise, where the women, identified as Scarlett and K, detailed instances of non-consensual encounters with Gaiman.

Scarlett, a 23-year-old woman, disclosed that she experienced sexual assault at Gaiman’s New Zealand residence shortly after their first meeting in 2022. Neil Gaiman, known for his works such as The Sandman, refuted claims of non-consensual activities and maintained that their relationship was consensual, involving only digital penetration.

K, the second accuser, met Gaiman at a book signing event in Florida in 2003 when she was 18. She alleged that despite objections, she endured painful and unwanted sexual encounters during their relationship. Gaiman has denied these specific allegations, expressing his discomfort at the accusations brought against him.

According to the investigation by Tortoise, Scarlett filed a complaint to the New Zealand police in 2022, while K did not pursue a formal police report. Gaiman claimed that the New Zealand police did not act on his offer to aid in the investigation, suggesting he believes the complaints lack substance. However, New Zealand authorities stated that ongoing efforts are in place to address the allegations.

Neil Gaiman, a prominent figure in the literary world, has faced significant scrutiny following these accusations, which have sparked conversations about consent and accountability within personal relationships. The impact of these allegations on Gaiman’s reputation and career remains to be seen as public discourse surrounding the issue continues.
