Representative Luna Defends Trump Amid Controversial Bed Offer Claims

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Florida Representative Anna Paulina Luna has publicly criticized media reports detailing an alleged encounter on former President Donald Trump‘s private jet. The reports stem from a new book by Axios White House reporter Alex Isenstadt titled “Revenge: The Inside Story of Trump’s Return to Power,” which includes a claim about Trump offering Luna the option to lie down on a bed while she was feeling unwell.
The book, released on March 18, 2025, claims that during a flight in the summer of 2023, Trump told Luna, who was pregnant at the time, to “Just don’t tell Melania,” referencing his wife, First Lady Melania Trump.
Luna responded to the allegations on social media, calling the coverage “nasty” and deemed the insinuations distasteful. She noted that she was suffering from preeclampsia, a serious condition associated with pregnancy, and said Trump’s offer was made in a respectful manner and in the presence of her husband.
“As soon as Trump boarded the plane, being the gentleman and good person that he is, he said if I did not feel well, I could use the back room,” Luna posted on X (formerly Twitter). “This was the most compassionate thing that could’ve been done at the time.”
Trump’s representatives characterized Isenstadt’s narrative as an exaggeration, with White House Communications Director Steven Cheung dismissing such books as “works of fiction.” Cheung stated these publications aim to capitalize on Trump’s name and are motivated by profit rather than journalistic integrity.
In an official response, an Axios spokesperson asserted that the interaction was accurately represented. “In our report, Axios correctly portrayed and contextualized comments made by President Trump during an interaction that he had with Rep. Luna,” the spokesperson said.
Despite the controversy, Luna emphasized that the conversation took place in a respectful context and expressed her discontent with the portrayal in the media. “If people in POTUS orbit are talking to this author, they need to be cut off immediately. This is gross,” she added, implying a deeper concern about the intent behind Isenstadt’s book.
The details from Isenstadt’s book spread rapidly on social media, with various outlets picking up the story, leading to heated discussions regarding the propriety of Trump’s comments and Luna’s subsequent defense. The ongoing debate reflects the polarized environment surrounding Trump’s legacy and the continued scrutiny he faces from the media.
