CHICAGO, Ill. — Former Chicago Bears quarterback Rex Grossman has high hopes for current QB Caleb Williams as he heads into his second NFL season. Grossman, who led the Bears to a Super Bowl appearance in 2006, believes Williams has the potential to break franchise records in the upcoming season.

During a recent interview, Grossman praised Williams’ ability to perform outside of structure, a skill he admitted he lacked. “A lot of people can’t succeed out of structure, so he’s got something a lot of people can’t do,” Grossman said. He emphasized that while Williams is already an improvisational talent, he must also learn to manage plays effectively to avoid unnecessary sacks.

Grossman foresees a significant passing yardage milestone for Williams, predicting he could throw for between 4,200 and 4,300 yards. This would make him the first quarterback in Bears history to surpass 4,000 yards in a single season. The Bears have never had a quarterback reach this mark, which contrasts sharply with the rising trends around the league.

<p“The Bears have often built their identity around defense and a strong running game,” Grossman explained. “In 2025, it’s time to change that. The current setup favors a more balanced offense, allowing for greater passing opportunities.”

Last season, Williams showed promise, throwing for 3,541 yards, 20 touchdowns, and only six interceptions while starting all 17 games. With a revamped offensive line and new wide receiver additions, his potential for improvement is high.

Williams’ coaching staff plans to tailor the offense to his strengths, incorporating more designed rollouts and emphasizing quicker reads. If he can stay healthy and adjust within the system, Grossman’s prediction may well become a reality.

<p“With the support around him and his own abilities, this might finally be the year the Bears rewrite their quarterback narrative,” Grossman concluded. As anticipation builds for the 2025 season, all eyes will be on Williams as he looks to make history in Chicago.
