Barcelona, Spain — Robert Lewandowski has not scored a goal for FC Barcelona in 46 days, marking a dry spell that has stretched across six matches since his last goal on April 9. The Polish striker is poised to reach a significant milestone as he seeks his 100th goal for the club.

This season, Lewandowski scored 40 goals, placing him among the top scorers in La Liga and ahead of 26 competitors. His current tally puts him just one goal from entering FC Barcelona’s exclusive ‘Club 100,’ a group of players who have achieved 100 or more goals for the 125-year-old club.

As of now, Lewandowski ranks 21st in the all-time scoring list for Barcelona, which has seen over 2,800 players don its colors. He trails behind numerous legends, including Diego Maradona and Johan Cruyff.

However, the drought is unprecedented for Lewandowski, who has played 416 minutes without finding the net. His longest previous stretch without a goal lasted 50 days last season. The striker has appeared in six matches since his last goal, consistently missing opportunities.

Lewandowski’s path to the 100-goal club has been remarkably swift until this recent cold streak. He reached 99 goals in just 140 appearances for Barcelona, a feat matched only by Luis Suarez in the 21st century. Despite his current struggles, Lewandowski is within reach of breaking records for the longest wait for the 100th goal.

In a potential match against Athletic Bilbao on Sunday, May 25, he could break the record if he goes an additional 89 minutes without scoring, making him the striker with the longest wait to join the club. Only Juan Asensi and Patrick Kluivert have spent longer after their 99th goals.

Lewandowski’s drought is raising concerns among fans, but there remains hope that he will finally achieve his milestone, with the season’s end approaching. “Will he score his 100th goal on Sunday? We will see,” said a club spokesperson. The match is set to be broadcasted on Eleven Sports 1 at 21:00 local time.
