Colorado Rockies Los Angeles Dodgers Baseball Game

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Colorado Rockies continue to seek their first road victory of the season as they face off against the Los Angeles Dodgers tonight at Dodger Stadium. Currently, the Rockies hold a dismal record of 0-4 during their West Coast trip and have set a franchise record for consecutive scoreless innings.

Having scored just 43 runs over their first 16 games of the 2025 season, the Rockies are at the bottom of the Major League standings for runs scored. This performance marks the fewest runs in the first 16 games in Rockies history, surpassing the 46 runs scored by the team in 2019. Adding to this grim scenario are their staggering 169 strikeouts, the second-most in the Majors, also the most for any Rockies team at this stage in a season.

Defensively, the Rockies have struggled as well, committing 16 errors, which ties them for second-most in baseball, behind the Boston Red Sox’s 20. This statistic illustrates the team’s challenge, with the Rockies’ errors over a 16-game span being among the highest in franchise history. Their last similar stretch occurred from April 6 to 24 in 2012, when the Rockies recorded 15 errors.

Despite these challenges, the Rockies’ manager Bud Black remains optimistic, stating, “It’s a new day and a new game. Perhaps our luck will change tonight.”

Ryan Feltner, a right-handed pitcher, is slated to take the mound for the Rockies. This will be his fourth start of the season and his fifth in the major leagues. Historically, Feltner has made five career starts against the Dodgers, recording a 1-2 record with a 5.79 ERA and 22 strikeouts. This season, he has shown improvement with a 2.81 ERA in 16 innings pitched.

The Dodgers, currently 12-6, hope to continue their dominance over the Rockies, having won 31 of the last 41 matchups between the two teams since June 2022. Last night, the Dodgers handed the Rockies a 5-3 defeat, with standout performances from Mookie Betts and Shohei Ohtani. Betts launched a two-run home run, and Ohtani contributed with his fifth homer of the season.

Dodger’s starter Landon Knack is making his second appearance of the season after a rough debut where he struggled against the Nationals, yielding five runs in 2 1/3 innings. Despite his 10.38 ERA so far this year, he finished his previous season with a respectable 3.65 ERA over 69 innings.

“Four walks on the day — that’s not me. Obviously, very frustrating,” Knack said reflecting on his last start. As the Dodgers look to claim their first series victory since the opening homestand, they hope Knack will find his rhythm against Colorado.

The matchup will also mark Jackie Robinson Day, adding a significant layer to the proceedings. Pregame festivities will honor the legacy of Robinson, who broke Major League Baseball’s color barrier. Today, teams across the league will wear the iconic number 42 in tribute.

The Rockies’ roster is feeling the impact of injuries, with Kris Bryant recently placed on a 10-day injured list due to lumbar degenerative disc disease affecting his lower back. “At this point in their careers, many players have to manage certain physical issues,” Black noted. The absence of Bryant creates additional challenges for a struggling Rockies team.

All eyes will be on tonight’s game as the Rockies aim for their first road win while the Dodgers look to extend their winning streak and secure their first home series win since their early-season success.

First pitch is scheduled for 8:10 MDT, and fans can tune into KOA 850 AM/94.1 FM for radio coverage, or catch the action on Rockies TV.
