New York, NY – The New York Rangers are evaluating their rookie talent during the preseason, with four skaters participating in all three games played so far. Forwards Gabe Perreault, Brennan Othmann, and Noah Laba, along with defenseman Scott Morrow, are at the center of this assessment. The team began their training camp when the rookies reported for on-ice sessions on Sept. 10.

Among the chosen skaters, Laba is the only one without NHL experience, while Perreault, Othmann, and Morrow are seen as front-runners for roster spots. During Friday’s practice, only Laba and Morrow participated with the main group of established NHL players.

Brennan Othmann celebrated a goal during the Rangers-Islanders preseason game on Sept. 25, 2025, showcasing his skill set. Gabe Perreault was also noted for his presence during the Rangers-Bruins game on Sept. 23, 2025. Scott Morrow displayed his puck-handling abilities in the same game.

Meanwhile, the New York Nets are focusing on rookie Nolan Traore‘s speed. Coach Jordi Fernández mentioned that Traore must learn to maintain his quickness throughout the game, not just at the beginning. “You know coming into the NBA he’s fast,” said Fernández. “But there’s going to be guys in front of him that are going to be physical and fast.”

The Nets will be looking to see how well Traore can sustain his performance and adapt his speed in competitive situations during the regular season.
