Ryan Garcia Sets Sights on Errol Spence Jr. After Doping Scandal
Ryan Garcia, the rising boxing star, is preparing for a major comeback following his recent doping scandal, focusing on a showdown with Errol Spence Jr.
In a career-defining victory in April, Garcia stunned the boxing world by defeating the previously unbeaten WBC super-lightweight champion, Devin Haney, in a thrilling match. Despite coming in overweight and unable to win the title, Garcia displayed exceptional power and precision, knocking Haney down three times and securing a majority decision victory.
However, Garcia’s triumph was overshadowed by doping allegations after he failed two drug tests prior to the fight, testing positive for the banned substance Ostarine.
In a recent interview, Garcia expressed his eagerness to face former stable mate Errol Spence Jr, declaring him as his top target for future bouts. He vowed to “take his head off” and emphasized his determination to avenge his coach by knocking out Spence.
Errol Spence Jr, currently entangled in a legal dispute with his former trainer Derrick James over fees from his fight against Terence Crawford, has yet to respond to Garcia’s callout.
