Sacramento State Football Homecoming Game

Sacramento, CA — The Sacramento State Hornets are gearing up for their homecoming game against Northern Colorado this Saturday, hoping to maintain momentum after a recent win at Weber State. After a dominant 55-27 victory, the Hornets are now at a .500 record of 3-3 for the season.

The Hornets’ offensive line, led by senior center Dean Abdullah and senior lineman Kenndel Riley, has played a crucial role in the team’s success, paving the way for an average of 234.7 rushing yards per game this season. In their last encounter, they rushed for a remarkable 397 yards and scored seven touchdowns.

“We’re coming off a great performance, and every game is critical for us moving forward,” said head coach Brennan Marion. “Our backs are against the wall; we have to treat every game like a playoff game.” The Hornets have dominated the series against Northern Colorado, winning 15 of their previous 17 matchups, including the last six consecutive games.

Northern Colorado, however, comes into the game with a recent upset win over the Idaho Vandals, showcasing a powerful all-around offensive effort. They will challenge Sacramento State’s defense, which has recorded 24 sacks and 51 tackles for loss this season.

Defensive lineman DeSean Watts emphasized the importance of teamwork: “O-N-E, One’s not enough. We need to play as one.” The Hornets are focusing on stopping Northern Colorado’s passing game, as the Bears previously posted 350 passing yards in their latest game.

The Hornets’ upcoming game will be at Hornet Stadium, with kick-off set for 6 p.m. Marion addressed his fans, encouraging them to wear their Hornets gear: “We should be hungry. There’s a lot more to do, and we look forward to putting on a great show for our supporters this weekend.” With the stakes high, Sacramento State looks to secure another win for their homecoming celebration.
