Seattle Seahawks Vs San Francisco 49ers 2024

The Seattle Seahawks have made strategic adjustments to their roster ahead of Thursday night’s NFC West clash against the San Francisco 49ers. The team has signed cornerback Artie Burns from their practice squad and activated nose tackle Cameron Young from the physically unable to perform (PUP) list. These moves aim to fortify the team’s lineup amidst injuries impacting key players.

In response to recent injuries, the Seahawks placed outside linebacker Uchenna Nwosu on injured reserve and waived guard McClendon Curtis. Additionally, the team elevated outside linebacker Jamie Sheriff and safety Ty Okada from the practice squad to bolster the lineup for the upcoming game.

Artie Burns, who is in his third season with the Seahawks, brings experienced depth to the cornerback position. The signing comes as starting cornerback Riq Woolen grapples with an ankle injury, leaving a potential void in the defensive lineup. “Burns gives us added depth at that position,” Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald stated. “He could play a significant role.”

Meanwhile, Cameron Young, a fourth-round pick last year, returns to the active roster, adding strength to the defensive line. Young played in 16 games last season and his return is timely as the team faces a difficult opponent in the 49ers.

Uchenna Nwosu’s move to injured reserve is due to a thigh injury sustained last week. He returned after missing earlier games due to a knee issue and had previously sat out the latter half of the previous season with a pectoral injury. Coach Macdonald expressed optimism regarding Nwosu’s recovery, stating, “We’re hopeful to have him back by the end of the season.”

The elevation of safety Ty Okada comes as starter Julian Love is listed as questionable with a hamstring injury. Macdonald emphasized the importance of this decision, indicating Love’s availability would be determined closer to game time.

Newly elevated Jamie Sheriff could make his Seahawks debut, having been re-signed after a brief period with the Carolina Panthers. His addition provides extra coverage with other linebackers listed as questionable.

As the Seahawks prepare to face off against the 49ers, they have lost five consecutive meetings including playoff encounters since the start of the 2022 season. The team aims to reverse this trend with their restructured lineup as they take on their divisional rivals at Lumen Field.
