Sean Murray’s Tim McGee To Return in NCIS Season 22 Finale

LOS ANGELES, CA — The trailer for the Season 22 finale of NCIS confirms that Sean Murray‘s character, Special Agent Tim McGee, will not be leaving the show. The season began airing on October 14, 2024, on CBS and is also available for streaming on Paramount+.
NCIS, based on the American military police, originally debuted on September 23, 2003, and has captured audience attention for over two decades. The recent promo for Episode 20, titled “Nexus,” has been released, revealing McGee’s fate after tense events in Episode 19.
In a 21-second clip, fans see McGee following the shocking events of Episode 19, “Irreconcilable Differences.” This episode left viewers questioning whether McGee might be dead after he confronted Deputy Director Gabriel LaRoche, whom he suspects is involved in illegal activities.
Despite witnessing LaRoche kill a man, McGee lacked evidence, leading to accusations against him of attempting to oust LaRoche. Near the episode’s climax, LaRoche was arrested; however, McGee was shot in the shoulder, raising concerns about his future on the show.
Fortunately, it has since been revealed that McGee survives the shooting and will continue to play a significant role moving forward. The finale promises to showcase McGee’s importance in the storyline as he aids his team in addressing the renewed threat from the Nexus cartel.
In addition to Sean Murray, Season 22 features cast members like Brian Dietzen, Katrina Law, Gary Cole, and Seamus Dever. The interactive dynamics among the team and their ongoing narrative arcs have sustained viewer interest throughout the season, culminating in this highly-anticipated finale.
As the show wraps up this season, fans look forward to how McGee’s journey will evolve and if he might finally receive the promotion to NCIS Deputy Director that he has long desired. The conclusion of Season 22 could mark a pivotal moment for McGee’s character, potentially sealing his fate in the series.
