Seattle Kraken defenseman Adam Larsson exited Saturday’s game against the Edmonton Oilers with an undisclosed injury and did not return. The 32-year-old logged 12:03 of ice time and 16 shifts before leaving the game following the second period. The Kraken went on to win the game 4-2.

Larsson, who has been a key player for the Kraken this season, has recorded one goal and six assists for seven points in 39 games. Known for his physical play, he also has 52 shots, 83 blocks, and 55 hits this season. His absence was felt on the ice, but the team managed to secure the victory without him.

The Swedish defenseman has been a consistent presence for the Kraken since joining the team as part of the NHL‘s 32nd expansion franchise. This season, he has donned the assistant captaincy, contributing four goals and 14 assists for 18 points in 81 regular-season games. He also added 162 hits and a plus-6 rating, ranking fourth among Kraken defensemen.

Larsson, a native of Skelleftea, Sweden, was the No. 4 overall pick in the 2011 NHL Draft by the New Jersey Devils. He spent five seasons with the Devils before being traded to the Edmonton Oilers in a deal involving Taylor Hall. After five years in Edmonton, Larsson joined the Kraken in 2021.

Through 14 NHL seasons, Larsson has appeared in 887 games, tallying 46 goals and 174 assists for 220 points. He has also played in 38 Stanley Cup Playoff games, recording 13 points. His experience and leadership have been invaluable to the Kraken, who are currently sixth in the Pacific Division with a 17-20-3 record through 40 games.

The Kraken are set to face the New Jersey Devils on Monday, followed by games against the Columbus Blue Jackets, Buffalo Sabres, and Detroit Red Wings this week. Larsson’s status for these upcoming games remains uncertain as the team evaluates his injury.
