Senator Ali Ndume Criticizes Planned Relocation Of Government Agencies To Lagos

The Senator representing Borno South Senatorial, Ali Ndume, has expressed his opposition to the proposed relocation of certain departments of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) from Abuja to Lagos. Ndume criticized the move, stating that President Bola Tinubu is being misled by influential individuals known as ‘Lagos boys’ who hold political power.

During an interview with Channels Television, Ndume voiced his concerns about the advisors influencing the President’s decision-making process. He highlighted that those in the corridors of power, particularly the ‘political cartels’, are providing inaccurate information to the President. He further emphasized that the President is not being served any favors by these individuals as there could be political consequences resulting from such a decision.

The proposed relocation primarily targets specific departments within the CBN, including Banking Supervision, Other Financial Institutions Supervision, Consumer Protection Department, Payment System Management Department, and Financial Policy Regulations Department. These departments, if moved to Lagos, would have a significant impact on the operations of the CBN and potentially disrupt its overall functioning.
