Severe Thunderstorms Tornado Warning Weather Alerts

CLARKSVILLE, TN – Severe thunderstorm warnings were issued across Montgomery County and surrounding areas on April 10, 2025, as dangerous weather systems move through the region. The National Weather Service (NWS) confirmed that thunderstorms are located along a line from near Elkton to seven miles southwest of Dickson, tracking eastward at 45 mph.

The first update on Thursday at 4:13 p.m. announced that a Severe Thunderstorm Warning will remain in effect until 5 p.m. Wind gusts could reach up to 60 mph, posing risks of damage to roofs and trees.

In addition, southeast Georgia is facing a Tornado Watch until 6 p.m. EDT. This alert affects Bulloch County and nearby areas, highlighting the potential for tornado formation as the storms advance.

The NWS defined a Tornado Watch as conditions favorable for tornado development in the area, urging residents to remain vigilant and prepared. The adverse weather is expected to persist throughout the day, with strong cold fronts leading to heavy rain and wind gusts exceeding 60 mph.

“We encourage residents to stay informed and monitor weather conditions closely,” said a local meteorologist. “Preparation is key to staying safe during severe weather.”

Reports indicate that rainfall amounts could range from 0.5 to 1.5 inches. Residents are advised to have plans in place in case warnings escalate to actual tornado conditions.

In a proactive move, the City of Statesboro and Bulloch County introduced the CodeRED system, intending to enhance emergency notifications and ensure public safety. The system is designed to alert residents about emergencies, including severe weather warnings, improving response times.

Meanwhile, the NWS has reiterated safety tips for those in affected areas. During thunderstorms, they recommend seeking shelter indoors and avoiding flooding zones during heavy rainfall. Residents should ensure their visibility on the road by using headlights and maintaining safe distances from other vehicles.

The NWS previously warned of hazards associated with lightning, which claims approximately 20 lives annually in the United States. With thunderstorms expected, vigilance remains crucial as the potential for hazardous weather increases.

As the weather situation develops, local news outlets are providing updated information on storm activity and safety measures. Local authorities advise residents to tune in frequently to stay informed and prepared for rapidly changing conditions.

All residents in affected areas should heed the warnings from the NWS, ensuring they take necessary actions for their safety against this evolving severe weather threat.
