PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania – Sidney Crosby, captain of the Pittsburgh Penguins, broke a significant franchise record during a recent game against the Vancouver Canucks. On Tuesday night, Crosby scored his fourth goal of the season, bringing his career total to 1,896 points, thus surpassing Mario Lemieux as the Penguins’ all-time leader in points.

The milestone goal came in the offensive zone when Crosby gained possession of a loose puck and shot it past the Canucks’ goaltender. This achievement highlights Crosby’s remarkable durability and consistent performance even at the age of 38.

Last season, Crosby led his team with 91 points in 80 games. As the current season progresses, he has already accumulated seven points in six games leading up to the matchup against Vancouver. The Penguins are striving to secure a spot in the playoffs, and Crosby’s leadership is critical for their success.

Comparatively, it took Crosby significantly more games to achieve this record than Lemieux, who recorded 1,895 points in just 1,022 games before injuries halted his career. Crosby has played over 1,300 regular-season contests and 180 playoff games, underscoring his longevity in the sport.

As the battle for the postseason intensifies, Crosby is just 29 points away from breaking Lemieux’s franchise record for regular-season points. He continues to demonstrate that despite his age, he can still produce at an elite level, reinforcing his position among the NHL’s greatest players.
