Simi Awujo Signs With Manchester United

Manchester United has made an exciting signing as they welcome Canadian midfielder Simi Awujo to the team. The 20-year-old player has agreed to a contract that runs until the end of the 2026/27 season.

Simi comes from the University of Southern California, where she played for the USC Trojans. Known for her talent on the field, she made her senior international debut for Canada at just 18 years of age and has amassed 19 caps, playing a significant role in the team reaching the quarter-finals at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games this summer.

Expressing her enthusiasm, Simi said, “To say that I’m a professional footballer for Manchester United is insane. I’m so excited for the season ahead, what the future holds here, and just to be a Red Devil. I cannot wait to play in front of the great Manchester United fans.”

Manchester United coach Marc Skinner also shared his excitement about the new addition, stating, “Simi is an exciting young talent who we are delighted has chosen to continue her football journey with us here at Manchester United. Our wonderful fans can expect a midfielder with international pedigree, who will only develop further in our competitive English game.”

Simi took a moment to thank her USC family on Instagram, sharing how much she cherishes her time there. She mentioned, “I cry as I write this, knowing that I will miss my final year with my best friends, but I am so excited to watch you all and cheer you on. I am so excited for this next part of my journey and will forever be a Trojan.”
