The duo set a new record with a stunning 171-run partnership off 136 balls, with Mandhana scoring her seventh ODI century and Kaur contributing a brilliant 103 runs.
This partnership eclipsed the previous record set by Poonam Raut and Deepti Sharma in a match against Ireland in 2017.
Mandhana’s stellar form also matched Virat Kohli’s record of scoring multiple centuries in a single series, while also becoming India’s leading female centurion alongside Mithali Raj.
The Indian team achieved a historic milestone by posting their first-ever 300-plus total in women’s ODIs, with Mandhana and Kaur leading the charge with 136 and 103 runs respectively.
In the high-scoring encounter, which saw a total of 646 runs being scored, South Africa’s Marizanne Kapp also shone, registering a quickfire century.
The match featured a record-breaking 15 sixes, with Mandhana, Kaur, Kapp, and Laura Wolvaardt all scoring centuries in a rare display of exceptional batting talent.
The game witnessed a thrilling chase by South Africa, who managed to score 321 runs – the highest successful chase by any team against India in women’s ODI history.
Harmanpreet Kaur’s century off 87 balls broke the record for the fastest century by an Indian woman cricketer, surpassing her own record set during the 2017 World Cup semi-final.
Mandhana’s century in the match marked her seventh ODI hundred, placing her on par with Mithali Raj in terms of most centuries for India.
India’s remarkable performance, highlighted by their 325/3 total, set new records and showcased the rising talent in women’s cricket.
