Sofía Vergara Faces Lawsuit Over Portrayal Of Griselda Blanco In 'griselda' Series

Actress Sofía Vergara is facing a lawsuit in Miami over her portrayal of Griselda Blanco in the limited series ‘Griselda’ on Netflix. The suit was filed by the estate of Blanco, represented by her son Michael Sepulveda Blanco and his wife Marie. The lawsuit seeks an emergency temporary injunction to halt the release of the series, claiming unauthorized use of the family’s image and likeness. It also alleges that unreleased and private artistic work was used without compensation.

The Blanco family argues that Michael Sepulveda Blanco had been documenting his and his mother’s life stories for years with the intention of publishing a book and developing a Spanish soap opera. They state that he was willing to share his work with Netflix and Latin World Entertainment, but claims that they acted as if he did not exist, using his material for their own profit. The series, directed by Andrés Baiz, is inspired by the life of Griselda Blanco, a notable Colombian businesswoman.

A hearing regarding the lawsuit was being held in Miami-Dade, while the six-episode series is set to stream on Netflix. Netflix has not responded to the lawsuit or made any comments on the matter.
