Southwest Florida National Day Of Prayer Events

NAPLES, Florida – Southwest Florida observed the National Day of Prayer on May 1 with a series of events in Naples and Fort Myers, emphasizing unity and faith.

In Fort Myers, actor Kirk Cameron delivered an inspiring keynote address during the 2025 Southwest Florida Community Prayer Breakfast at Hammond Stadium, part of the Lee Health Sports Complex. Cameron shared a testimony of faith, urging attendees to embrace hope and courage.

“There is a fresh sea breeze of hope, victory, optimism and courage that is blowing through our country right now,” Cameron said. He highlighted the importance of the ‘family of faith’ in fostering goodness and truth in the community.

Meanwhile, in Naples, participants filled the football field at Naples High School for an evening service, which included prayers led by local church leaders and elected officials, along with musical performances. This year’s theme, “Pour Out to the God of Hope and Be Filled!” reflects Romans 15:13, emphasizing joy and peace through belief.

“Year after year, this event brings our community closer in a time of celebration, inspiration and unity,” said Ron Inge, president of Southwest Florida Community Prayer Breakfast, Inc.

The National Day of Prayer, established by Congress in 1952 and set for the first Thursday of May by President Ronald Reagan in 1988, saw participation from millions across the United States this year as over 35,000 gatherings were organized.
